Hormonal imbalance is my self-taught area of expertise. After having my second son my hormones went haywire. After almost a year of complaining to my doctor I did not feel good, something felt off, like I wasn’t myself. I was exhausted, I could not go more than 2-3 hours without food and would start getting “hangry”. My hair was dry and frizzy when it used to be soft and lush, I had acne for the first time in my life, and was age 32 (wtf). Maybe worse of all though for me no matter what I did I could not get the 60 pounds of post-baby weight off.
Yes, friend you heard me right, 60 FREAKING pounds! I will skip the part where both my pregnancies were high risk and I had “hyperpigmentation”, Try to say that 5 times fast, or at least one time correctly (lol). In short, Hyperpigmentation during pregnancy is commonly due to endocrinological changes.
This lovely little disorder was basically my body thinking the pregnancy hormones I was producing, you know being pregnant, was a foreign enemy and it needed to go. So I basically experienced the world’s worst morning sickness for 8 months straight with my first pregnancy and then for about 6 months straight with my 2nd pregnancy. Though I was overjoyed to not be throwing up at the 6-month mark my body flipped a switch into thinking it was starving….like all the time up until I gave birth. Hints the 60 pounds of weight I gained.
