Hormonal Imbalance Signs & Symptoms
The first step in losing the unwanted weight is understanding what caused it in the first place. If it was not a case of poor eating habits that when changed you saw immediate weight loss, then odds are pretty good it is hormonal imbalance. Being overweight or obese for any amount of time will lead to a hormonal imbalance, and a hormonal imbalance will lead to weight gain and obesity.
It doesn’t really matter which came first odds are if you have one you have the other.
Testing Your Hormones at Home

Another option is to see your physician and ask for a Full Hormone Panel to be run. This will be a deeper dive than the at-home test kit, but something that can only be done by a lab.
Signs You Have a Hormonal Imbalance
- Irregular menstruation (periods)
- Infertility
- Acne and hormonal acne
- Diabetes
- Thyroid disease/disorder
- Obesity
- Slow heartbeat or rapid heartbeat
- Unexplained weight gain or weight loss.
- Fatigue.

What caused the Hormonal Imbalance
There is no one cause for all hormonal imbalances, but most commonly for women, hormonal imbalances occur around puberty, teens to early 20s, pregnancy, and menopause. Any high-stress or traumatic experience can also cause a hormonal imbalance and be overweight for a long time without being treated.
In men, the most common cause is when men reach around the age of 40 and testosterone levels start to decline. Up to that point in their lives, they may have gotten away with poor diet and lifestyle choices. This is around the age many people joke to have the “dad bod” which simply means either they gained weight or they put on weight in the midsection which is where hormonal weight gain is most common lending to that pair-shaped body type.
How to lose weight with a Hormonal Imbalance
The good news is you CAN lose weight while healing and rebalancing your hormones. We do not have to wait until the hormones fully come into balance to see weight loss results. Personally, I saw about 30 pounds of weight loss in 90 days and the rest of the post-baby weight came off pretty easily after that.
