Tallow Face Beauty Balm
4 oz RootsCo Tallow Face Beauty Balm is formulated with all-natural ingredients great for any skin type. Unlike store-bought cosmetics with a long list of ingredients, we use a few simple basic ingredients when formulating our Tallow skincare line. Tallow, or other forms of it, is in itself one of the secrets to youthful skin that has been used for thousands of years.
Tallow and our skin are incredibly compatible. Grass-fed tallow contains essential vitamins that help our skin maintain a healthy state. The essential vitamins found in Grass-Fed Grass-Finished beef are easier for our skin to absorb than most other seed and nut oils most commonly found in skincare. Tallow is an excellent source of nourishment to the skin that simply isn’t matched by plants in terms of concentration and bioavailability.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING TALLOW ON YOUR SKIN?
Tallow is one of the most with our skin because they share a similar fatty-acid profile. Beef Tallow is loaded with bioavailable vitamins and nutrients that your skin needs such as:
Fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E & K enter our skin in a form that’s easy for the skin to process.
Unlike other plants, seed, and nut-based oils beef tallow shares such closely related sebum to our skin’s sebum that it can penetrate all those amazing vitamins and nutrients in was that plant-based oils cannot.
Our skin has a protective barrier preventing “bad stuff” from getting in. Which is a good thing seeing as how a study found the average American woman puts more than 515 synthetic chemicals on her skin a day! (NUTS right?). Because of this natural barrier most of the skincare products and lotions we put on simply set on top of our skin with little of the plant-based ingredients able to penetrate in.
Too bad that is not the case with the nasty chemical ingredients!
Our skin’s health, the contribution of collagen and elastin, new skin cell production, and protection from free radicals are all boosted when we are consuming fat-soluble vitamins.
I do not ever claim to treat, diagnose or prevent any diseases, or skin conditions. I do encourage you to read our testimonials (found here), so you can hear those who love RootsCo Tallow Beauty and about how it has transformed their skin.
Which Tallow Beauty Balm Is Right For My Skin?
Finding the right tallow face beauty balm is pretty simple. Since we use all-natural plant and animal-based products and do not add any chemicals or toxins to our skincare, tallow is good for all skin types!
Meaning no matter your skin type we know you will love all of the options. However, there are essential oils added to each beauty balm that have different benefits for the skin.
Oily Breakout Prone Skin
If you have oily or breakout-prone skin our oily skin tallow beauty balm will be your go-to. Tallow itself will vastly help minimize breakouts and oil production by balancing the skin. We also added oils like:
Tea Tree EO Skin Benefits – moisturizes dry skin, prevents oily skin, helps treat dark spots, reduces inflammation, cures acne, has antiseptic properties, acts as a surface disinfectant.
Patchouli EO – anti-aging properties, helps in healing and detoxing the skin, has anti-inflammatory effects helping to reduce redness or swelling in breakout areas, acts as a natural astringent, helps reduce pores size
Lavender EO – the number one sold essential oil in the US for a good reason, gently moisturizes the skin, is antibacterial, kills acne-causing bacteria,
You may be reading ‘moisturizers’ in many of these oils, and also may be thinking, “if I am putting oils and tallow on my oily skin – won’t that just make it worse?”
No. Actually, though it doesn’t make sense logically scientifically when you put healthy oils (that are non-pore clogging) on oily skin it signals the skin to stop producing so much excess oil. There are only two or three causes of acne breakouts and excess oil production.
- Adolescence – due to normal homonal changes the body is producess excess or higher than normal levels of growth hormones
- Food – there are many inflamitory foods such as Sugar, Gluten, Dairy, and most grains. Dr. Mark Hyman has a great book on how to eleminate foods that could be messing with your hormones casuing all kinds of issues (hormonal breakouts or cystic acne being a symptom)
- Hormonal Imbalances – As I said on point number two hormonal imbalnaces cuase a lot of issues acne and cystic acne being very common sympots (pinterest has some break “face break-out charts” to show what could be causing breakouts in different areas of the face)

Normal Skin
If you are in the normal skin category. Or even Normal to Dry / Normal to Oily – any of these beauty balms will be amazing for your skin. I might just check out the EO benefits because they do differ and let that be your deciding factor.
Dry to Extremely Dry Skin
I would say here it depends on why your skin is dry? Is it winter right now and you live in a dry and windy place where your skin needs the extra moister? Or is there a hormonal imbalance (such as hypothyroid) that is causing your skin to be so dry? Or could it be age-related dryness?
Just as oily skin in adolescence is common, dry skin in aging skin is also very common. The reason for this is as we age our skin produces less college and elastin than it did in youth.
If you feel it could be a hormonal imbalance – check out this article on signs and symptoms your hormones might be off and what to look for (and check out my story on how I healed my autoimmune system after that!) If you feel this is the case I would go with the Soft and Gentle beauty balm as lavender is the primary EO in that balm your skin will love!
Should you find yourself in the get my glow back, anti-aging category well you will defiantly want the Glow Beauty balm as it is packed with the EO known and revered for hundreds of years for its anti-aging properties.
Essential Oils
The only difference in the Face Beauty Balms is the essential oil blends that have been tailored to help with different skin types and desires. The base recipe for the beauty balm is listed above so let’s dive into the essential oils that went into each beauty balm with the benefits.
Tallow Soft & Gentle Beauty Balm

Tallow Tea Tree Green Tea Beauty Balm (OILY SKIN)
Our Tea Tree Green Tea Beauty Blam is the most common choice for oily skin prone to having breakouts. The reason this blend is so great for oily skin is the power of Tea Tree and Green Tea for balancing the PH and soothing the skin. Tea Tree EO is known for its powerful plant-based antiseptic properties. Tea Tree is extracted from the leaves of an indigenous Australian tree known as Melaleuca.
The most common uses for Tea Tree EO are:
- acne
- dry skin
- oil skin
- itchy skin
- plant based wound healing properties (studies have found it to have anit-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and antiseptic properites)
Green Tea has been used for hundreds of years in Eastern traditions (most commonly in China) because of its ability to reduce skin irritation, skin redness, and swelling. Green Tea has been used to soothe minor cuts and sunburns naturally. Due to the anti-inflammatory properties of green tea studies have shown it to be a natural plant-based remedy option for many dermatological conditions.
Green Tea is packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. The polyphenols in green tea when drinking is believed to prevent acne from the inside out so to speak. Green tea is believed to be moisturizing to the skin.

Tallow Glow Skin Beauty Balm (normal to dry skin)
Our signature Tallow Glow Skin Beauty Balm is the first product we ever developed here at RootsCo Skincare. You could say this is what started it all. Upon researching Tallow for cooking I quickly found that it was a powerful ‘beauty secrete’ ingredient that has literally been used for hundreds if not thousands of years in natural clean nontoxic beauty.
Our Glow Skin Beauty Balm is a powerful mixture of Lavender, Frankincense, Carrot Seed, Cedarwood, and Rosemary essential oils. These five oils were hand-picked for the anti-aging properties that they are believed to have.
As we age our skin produces less collagen, elastin, and telomeres than it did in our youth. However, no one wants to trade their overall health and wellness for toxic man-made chemical products all in the ‘hopes’ of the product making their skin more youthful and vibrate.
RootsCo did just what our blog name suggests – we went back to our roots to see how people have been making skin care for thousands of years and paired that with modern research and studies to formulate what we believe to be the best of both worlds!
Using plant power and the endless benefits of grass-fed grass-finished beef tallow for our skins along with other great oils such as olive oil, castor oil, hemp oil to mix our own powerful plant-based ‘fountain of youth blam’ as I like to call it.

After getting the “c-word” vaccine I started noticing these scabs and rashes all over my body, two of them to the point of bleeding. I could not figure out what was going on and several of them were on my neck and face. I could get concerned comments all the time about “oh no what is this” – beyond embarrassing.
My daughter told me about this tallow stuff she was using and gave me a little bit to take home with me.
OMG yall!! Within one week the scab rash things were GONE and my skin has NEVER felt better. I have some autoimmune issues and with my hormonal things, my skin is always so super dry and cracky. Since using the tallow body butter I have literally seen my skin transform. I am still honestly shocked!
I cannot remember how long it has been since my skin has felt hydrated. I buy this stuff in doubles so I never run out! It is that good!
I just started using the Tallow No Waste Shampoo & Conditioner in my salon. I will update later with my professional feedback on how it stands up to the salon products I have used for the last 25+ years.
