Is it really the magic potion that melts pounds away?
Adding lemon juice to a cup of coffee is all the rage online from a popular TikTok viral challage.
But the real question is, does it actually work? East on The TikTok challenge all you need to do is sit on the mixture and watch your unwanted pounds Melt Away.
The lemon coffee for weight loss concept is generating quite the buzz around all social media platforms.
Videos of dieting remedies have tens of millions of views and counting on Social Media.
I think it’s safe to say that we are always looking for ways to shed unwanted pounds.
So, is adding lemon to copy a secret just loving down? I did a little fact-checking to find out.
What is Lemon Coffee?
The most commonly used mixture in the TikTok challenge was just to squeeze one lemon into a standard cup of black coffee. Safe to say that lemon coffee is not the most flavorful probably why we have never seen it added to the menus at our local cafes.
Also important to note you should never add lemon to Lattes or any other drinks with milk in them as it will curdle (gag).
Lemon and Coffee Weight Loss Drink: Is it Fact or Crap?
The quick answer is that the lemon & coffee for weight loss drink is total crap. There are no findings of adding lemon to coffee has any effect on weight loss.
You will want to keep reading till the end if natural, healthy, weight loss that will stay off for good is what led you to this post.
I will share with you how I lost over 50 pounds when nothing, and I do mean NOTHING was working to get the post-baby weight off. It was not until I understood the root of the problem that I was able to fix it for good!
There is however what is called the Placebo Effect. There is a great book, that is still one of my all-time favorite books, by Dr. Joe Dispenza called “You are the Placebo”.
In short, the Placebo Effect is when we believe something so much we make it real. This term was coined in World War 1 when a nurse ran out of morphine and decided to inject saline (salt water) into patients and told them it was morphine and they would not feel any pain.
This was a complete hail mary because the nurse did not think it would work but hoped the men would feel better knowing they did receive some pain killer.
To her shock around 90% of the men acted as if they had been injected with morphine and said they felt no pain at all.
The placebo effect has since been studied in testing new prescription medications and treatments and has even been taken as far as doing fake knee surgery.
The placebo patient in the “fake” knee surgery went through the same process he would have if he was truly having the knee surgery performed. However, the doctor simply cut the knee (as he would if he was performing the surgy) then stitched him up and told the patient everything went perfectly and he would feel much better in a couple of days.
The man believing that he had a real knee surgery went through the 1-week rehab and reported back to the doctor in his follow-up appointment that he feels better than ever.
All his knee pain was gone.
This kind of story is tip of the ice berg as far as the miracles you will read in “You are the Placebo” by Dr. Dispenza.
My favorite mind-bending story in Dr. Dispenza’s book was about a man who had terminal cancer and was within weeks of dying. The man’s doctor knew of a medical study being done that was to treat this type of cancer and asked the doctors of the study if his patient could join.
The man was too close to death to get to formally enter the group trial but they let the man unofficially join.
The thing about double-blind clinical studies like this one is even the doctors performing and monitoring the studies cannot know which patients are receiving the real medication and who is receiving the placebo (sugar pills).
Only the pharmacy knows this information until the test trial is completed to ensure the doctors do not inadvertently mess with the results.
Long story short the man received the sugar pills. But he deeply believed that he was going to be healed because his doctor told him this medication was having amazing results in healing other patients and that within a few short weeks of taking the placebo (sugar pill) his cancer was 100% gone!
Weeks from dying and this man was completely healed!
By sugar pills?
No. Of course not.
He was healed because he believed that the pills he was taking would heal him. This is VERY common in medical studies somewhere along the lines of 50% or greater of placebo patients reporting the same or better results as those taking the actual real medications.

Ok friend here is where it gets juicy and I share my secret to losing over 50 pounds and keeping it off for good so listen up. I tried to lose weight for almost 2 years after having my youngest son before I figured out what the root of the weight problem was.
