Losing weight can be hard. The average obesity rate in the US is 42.4%. The fact is that nearly one in three adults in the US are overweight, more than two in five adults in the US are obese, and one in eleven adults are severely obese. This is why the diet industry in the US is a Multi-Billion dollar industry.
Many people have tried so many different diets, weight loss drinks, and even weight loss pills, and nothing works! It seems like no matter what they do the weight either will not come off, or it comes off and boomerangs back on (and it brought friends aka extra weight back with it).
Obesity rates worldwide have risen from 4.8% in men and 7.9% in women to 9.8% in men and over 13.8% in women. Obesity rates have doubled worldwide since the 1980s. Around the 1970s the medical field changed the name of Onset Adults Diabetes to Typ 2 Diabetes because children were now getting Diabetes too.
It use to take years for Type 2 diabetes which is caused by poor eating habits to set it.
What happened?
Understanding this is key to getting to the root of the obesity pandemic. Without really understanding what has caused the extra weight to stick around and not want to leave you will be left on the yoyo diet train indefinitely.
What Causes Weight Gain?
Aside from the obvious poor diets, there is more to weight gain than that. In the US there have been some major changes in our culture that have contributed to the spike from 13% in obesity in the 1980s to 42.4% in 2022.
