How I lost 50 pounds and keep it off effortlessly
When we are talking about weight loss over 40 nine times out of ten we are talking bout hormonal weight gain. Hormonal weight loss is not the same as “normal weight loss”. However, if you are over 40 and looking to lose weight and know for sure you have no hormonal issues, or hormonal imbalances this will STILL work for you too!
Most women cycle through at least three (often many more) times in their lives where one could say our hormones are out of wack. Puberty, pregnancies, and menopause (including pre-menopause often starting around age 40).
Our brilliant bodies are hardwired to return to our hormones to the ‘factory settings’ as I like to call them. However, in today’s world, it has become harder and harder to do that can boil down to two main reasons:
- Foods
- Toxins

Hormonal Health and Weight Loss
When it comes to losing weight the first thing we must understand is food is either medicine or it is poison. The foods we are eating are either nourishing our bodies or slowly poisoning them.
In America, we eat what is called the SAD diet, or the Standard American Diet. I am not sure anyone could find a more fitting acronym for US eating habits than SAD.
Losing weight over 40 gets a bit more tricky than it is at puberty or after pregnancy, hormonal issues, or otherwise.
Many women in perimenopause and early post-menopause gain fat mass as estrogen levels drop.
Women of childbearing age tend to store fat in their lower bodies (“pair-shaped”), while both men and women postmenopausal store excess fat in the abdominals (“apple-shaped”).
Estrogen imbalance around menopause can have big effects on weight gain or the ability to lose weight over 40.

A Good Green Drink
Without a doubt, none of us are getting all the fruits and veggies in our daily diets. I love green drinks because they save us both time and money!

Losing weight over 40 almost always comes down to hormonal changes happening that we have never experienced so most have no idea what to do.
